Why is Earth losing its greenery?

The world is gradually becoming less green, scientists have found. Plant growth is declining all over the planet, and new research links the phenomenon to decreasing moisture in the air—a consequence of climate change.
Industrialization further decreased the number of trees. Mining is also one of the reasons for deforestation. Infrastructure such as roads, buildings are also eliminating greenery. Growing energy requirements led to the clearing up of large tracts of land for solar energy, wind energy and other power plants.
What's causing it? The loss of ecosystems is caused mainly by changes in land and sea use, exploitation, climate change, pollution and the introduction of invasive species. Some things have a direct impact on nature, like the dumping of waste into the ocean.
Human activity is causing environmental degradation, which is the deterioration of the environment through depletion of resources such as air, water and soil; the destruction of ecosystems; habitat destruction; the extinction of wildlife; and pollution.
